During a successful career in commercial real estate, I began noticing the large number of large wood shipping crates in the warehouses I was showing. So, when the real estate bubble burst, I decided to put my hard work and carpentry skills to the test and build a few large wooden crates for a friend’s business to safely ship their airplane parts. With my wife Suzanne as my carpentry assistant, delivery driver and chief bottle washer, the orders kept coming in, and word began to spread to other companies in need of crates. Regardless of your need, we have a wooden crate solution for you:
Building from our home garage, I modified available online plans to fit each customer’s specific needs. One of the first large shipping crates I designed that way was for the US Navy, to hold 35 odd-shaped, tapered submarine parts. By designing compartments and collars inside the large wooden crate, we were able to hold them in place securely, and by using truck-bed paint we were able to waterproof the wooden shipping crates. As it turned out, that first sample beat out four other companies’ samples in a design competition, and we got the Navy order for 40 heavy duty crates.
Since then, we’ve built large wooden crates for everything from concept cars to Ripley’s Believe It Or Not statues to trade show booth components to air-droppable AK-47 rifles to tools and parts for the Ferrari racing team to the largest piano in America. We never say no to a challenge. No matter how unusual your crating need, we’ll put in whatever it takes – heat-treated wood, aluminum, cardboard, rivets, and lots of sleepless nights – to build it. So, if you have an “impossible” load to ship, let’s talk or ask us for a quote with 12-hour turnaround. Whatever your problem is, we’ll design and build just the right crates to solve it for you.
